Position Summary

The digital marketing manager serves as the web production, digital marketing and email marketing expert on Destination DC's (DDC) marketing and communications team. This individual works closely with the associate director of content marketing to grow DDC's digital marketing efforts-driving engagement on, achieving pageview goals and unique visitors KPIs and boosting email open rates. This role is directly responsible for building pieces of content on, managing B2B and B2C email marketing strategy and programs, integrating paid media onto and optimizing for organic and paid search.

The ideal candidate is a clear communicator with a strong attention to detail who approaches their work strategically and analytically.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to)

Web Production

  • Leads the planning, building and optimization of webpages, microsites and other web-based projects in CMS, utilizing HTML and other technologies
  • Monitors user behavior and traffic flows to ensure an engaging user experience
  • Ensures web content remains fresh and engaging, editing and updating copy as needed, and identifying missing or outdated information
  • Serves as primary contact with digital marketing agency of record to coordinate web projects

Digital Marketing

  • Supports content marketing strategy that aligns with multi-channel advertising campaigns
  • Manages SEO strategy, building and managing paid search engine marketing campaigns
  • Assists in online ad trafficking, reporting and analysis

Email Marketing

  • Oversees DDC's external email communications calendar, working closely with project manager to streamline the production and distribution of emails
  • Plans, builds and sends email communications including consumer newsletters, industry updates and event invites
  • Reviews and analyzes metrics and trends to optimize email communication strategy
  • Educates colleagues in email marketing best practices

Creative Services

  • Serves as member of DDC's creative services team, fulfilling web and email projects as assigned by the project manager and working closely with internal stakeholders to address website needs

Education, Experience & Competencies

  • Four-year degree from an academic institution in marketing or relevant field
  • A minimum of four years' experience in digital marketing with a focus on digital content production
  • Working expertise in website CMS (e.g., Drupal, Wordpress,) and email marketing software (e.g., Act-On, Cvent, Constant Contact, MailChimp)
  • Organic search expertise required, with experience in paid search preferred
  • Experience building and editing content using HTML required, experience in CSS a plus
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Search Console and Google Ads (or similar software, such as Adobe suite of products)
  • Experience with Moz or similar SEO software (Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, etc.) preferred
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  • Experience writing for consumer- and travel-focused websites a plus
  • Excellent verbal, written and proofreading skills
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
